Players ‘Go Blue’ to support Autism

21 Apr

Players, fans, media and tournament officials sported the colour blue at tournaments all around the world to mark Autism Awareness Month (see gallery below).

At the PGA TOUR’s RBC Heritage tournament at Hilton Head, the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic in San Francisco and the Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open, there was widespread support from the players, including Michelle Wie (pictured above) for a cause that is of course close to the hearts of Ernie and Liezl.

“I want to thank everyone at RBC, Boeing and Hilton Head who embraced our traditional ‘Blue Out’ day on Thursday in support of Autism Awareness Month and to all of those who also wore the blue-and-white ribbon of The Els for Autism Foundation,” commented Ernie Els. “And to everyone on the LPGA and Sunshine Tour who also jumped on board. This global initiative has really gathered some momentum in recent years, which can have only positive repercussions for the wider autism community. Hats off to everyone who supports this wonderful cause.”
