A fourth Big Easy Winebar & Grill by Ernie Els™, located at Miami’s impressive new Brickell City Center, is scheduled to open for business in December 2016.
An official ribbon cutting ceremony performed by Ernie is also planned for early in the New Year. It represents another exciting chapter for this blossoming global restaurant brand, with existing outlets already thriving in locations in Stellenbosch, Durban and Dubai, the latter of which was voted ‘Best Food & Beverage Outlet’ at the 2016 Middle East Golf Awards.
As with its predecessors, the Big Easy Winebar & Grill Miami will offer a casual yet sophisticated steakhouse dining experience. The cuisine, wines, décor and hospitality are all inspired by the lifestyle, spirit and homeland of South Africa, with additional influences from Ernie’s extensive travels around the world. The mouthwatering menu boasts a strong line-up of succulent prime cut steaks and a selection of outstanding meats including Tenderloin of Beef, Prime Ribeye, Wagyu Flank Steak, Rack of Lamb and South African delicacies such as Springbok Loin and Ostrich Fillet alongside the ever-popular Big Easy Burger. Also from Ernie’s homeland are Bobotie Spring Rolls (sweet ground beef curry with spice chutney), Grilled Boerewors (one of Ernie’s personal favorites!) and Sosatie Grilled Mini Skewers of beef, pork, lamb and chicken with tasty dips.
Diners will also be able to choose from the finest fresh fish, much of which celebrates Florida’s sensational seafood and Latin influence, such as Fresh Stone Crabs, Peekytoe Crab Cake, Line-caught Florida Snapper with Peri-Peri Sauce, Local Shellfish Bouillabaisse and Lobster & Langoustine Duo. Other irresistible dishes on this diverse, seasonally-driven menu include juicy Mozambique Tiger Prawns, Pan Fried Sea Bass, Spit Roast Baby Chicken, Braised Pork Belly, Carpaccio of Tuna, Cape Rock Lobster Risotto, Ceviche, Sashimi and the spectacular Big Easy Shellfish Platter formed of the Executive Chef’s daily hand-picked selections.
“Our existing Big Easy Winebar & Grills have quickly established themselves as go-to restaurants in their respective communities and what’s also really gratifying is they’re really popular with a very diverse crowd,” commented Ernie on a site visit in September (pictured above). “We feel confident that’s also going to be the case here in Miami. The whole ethos of what we’re trying to achieve at the Big Easy Winebar & Grill reflects my idea of the perfect restaurant; fantastic food and great wine in a comfortable, friendly environment. Our award-winning Executive Chef Maryna Frederiksen, a native from my homeland, is going to do an incredible job bringing a taste of South Africa to Miami. Some of my personal favorites are on the menu and, having already sampled some of Maryna’s dishes, trust me when I say that everyone is in safe hands!”
Equally as important as the cuisine will be the Big Easy Winebar & Grill’s beverage program, featuring a hand-selected wine list including award-winning varietals from Ernie Els Wines’ diverse portfolio of wines. “One of the really wonderful things about the Big Easy Winebar & Grill is the opportunity it gives Louis Strydom [head winemaker at Ernie Els Wines] and me to share our passion for wine and to introduce our portfolio of wines, of which we’re extremely proud, to a wider audience,” says Ernie.
