2012 Big Easy Tour Championship at Els Club Copperleaf

20 Dec

The Sunshine Big Easy Tour presented by Stonehage was launched in March 2011 and was conceived to give a wider cross section of young professionals the opportunity to play more competitive golf.

This year’s successful series consisted of 11 tournaments and the top-30 players on the Big Easy Order of Merit tee it up in this week’s season-ending Tour Championship at the fabulous Els Club Copperleaf.

The Tour was named after Ernie Els in recognition of his continued commitment to the development of the game in South Africa. “I commend the Sunshine Tour on this initiative to provide competitive playing opportunities for our up-and-coming professionals and of course I am honoured that the Tour has put my name to the Tour,” said Ernie. “The Big Easy Tour will help our nation’s young talent mature, develop their playing skills and take the next big step towards full Tour status. It’s a great format and I’m sure it will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Speaking on behalf of the presenting sponsor, Stonehage CEO Giuseppe Ciucci commented, “Stonehage is absolutely delighted to continue its sponsorship of the Sunshine Big Easy Tour. Stonehage has supported the development of golf through Ernie and his Foundation for more than 10 years. We are proud to be involved with the Big Easy Tour and to have the opportunity to contribute further to the development of the game in South Africa now and in years to come.”
