1. Ernie Els Design wins renovation of Lido Resort in Indonesia
On 7 August 2014 Ernie Els Design and IMG Golf Course Services announced they have been selected by MNC Land to work on the renovation of the existing 18-hole golf course at Lido Resort in Sukabumi, West Java in Indonesia (pictured above). Ernie Els Design will lead the golf course renovation design efforts while IMG will be responsible for golf course construction project management and pre-opening management services. The planning and initial design works have already been completed with construction on the golf course renovation due to start in September 2014.
The MNC Group acquired the existing Lido Resort in July 2013 and has plans to develop hotels, villas, a theme park and other supporting infrastructure as part of the master development plan over the coming years. Budi Rustanto, President Director of MNC Land commented, “We are very pleased to have Ernie Els join us for his first ever golf course design project in Indonesia. Ernie is not only a world-class player, but also a world-class designer given his many high profile design projects completed worldwide, including several very impressive renovation designs. The Ernie Els Design renovation will create five completely new golf holes while utilizing many of the existing golf corridors to improve the revised master plan of the resort. The world-class Ernie Els designed golf course is due to reopen in early 2016.

2. Ernie is the European Tour’s first 30 million euro man!
In July 2014 Ernie Els became the first man in European Tour history to break through the €30 million mark in career earnings, a landmark that happened to coincide with Ernie playing his 300th European Tour event. He remains the all-time leading money winner, with prize money of €30,253,543.
Since playing in his first ever European Tour event as a professional, the 1991 Open de Baleares at which he won €1,115.80, Ernie has played 302 events (up to and including the 2014 PGA Championship) and has made 282 cuts (an incredible 93 per cent strike rate). Of those 302 events Ernie has finished in the top-10 on 143 occasions (a 47 per cent strike rate).
In addition, Ernie still holds the all-time record for the most consecutive cuts made on the European Tour (82) registered from the 2000 Johnnie Walker Championship to the 2007 Johnnie Walker Classic.

3. Ernie Els Design adds to its list of awards & accolades
The recent award for The Els Club Teluk Datai, being named the region’s ‘Best Golf Course’ at the 2014 Asia-Pacific Property Awards, adds to an impressive list of accolades bestowed on this boutique golf course design company since it was formed a little over 10 years ago.

5. Ernie Els Wines is first to plant newly introduced Cabernet Sauvignon clone in SA
Tuesday, August 12th marked a significant day at Ernie Els Wines as the planting of a new clone of Cabernet Sauvignon known as CS412 began. This clone was imported from France in 2008 and has spent the past six years in quarantine where it was researched, tested and deemed disease-free prior to release into the industry. Just 642 plants were made available by Vititec (the authority controlling the import, quarantine and release of new plant material) and all were reserved for the winery.
The clone is already in use in both Bordeaux and California, although its volumes are relatively low. The major attributes that CS412 possesses are: thick berry skins, small grape bunches and very small berry size – these should ultimately lead to intense and powerful wines.
The winery invited some local wine media to an informative seminar hosted by winemaker Louis Strydom on Cabernet Sauvignon statistics in SA, different clones and also a tasting of individual clonal selections from the cellar, local and international wines. The guests later put their mark on the day by each planting five plants.
