2. Introducing two new faces at Ernie Els Wines
These are exciting times at the Ernie Els Winery and we would like to take this opportunity to introduce two new members of the staff here, Louw Strydom who joins us as Sales & Marketing Manager for Europe and the Americas, and Nadia Hefer who assumes a similar role looking after the coastal regions of South Africa.

Louw Strydom joined Ernie Els Wines in April. We have known Louw for many years having worked in the wine industry in various roles in the vineyards, tasting room hospitality, restaurants and more recently in a sales and marketing role. He has been building a name for himself as a national sales manager for a neighbouring winery in the Stellenbosch wine region. “We believe that Louw is just the right person to take our wines forward and get our wines into the glasses of consumers and enjoyed all around the world,” commented The Els Group (SA) Brand Manager Duncan Woods. Click here to watch Louw’s video introduction.

Meanwhile, Nadia Hefer graduates from our hospitality department into a sales and marketing role focusing on the coastal regions of South Africa. She will be looking to take the brand to the wine trade extending right around the coast of South Africa from Cape Town to Durban and beyond. “Nadia is a qualified winemaker and has worked in hospitality here at the Ernie Els Winery,” commented Duncan Woods, “so we feel that her skill set will be an ideal combination to be able to combine knowledge of wine and the enjoyment of wine in making our brand more successful.” Click here to meet Nadia’s video introduction.

3. Ernie Els Wines on show at top events in South Africa
The Ernie Els Wines team was proud to attend and showcase its impressive and diverse portfolio of wines at two fantastic events in recent weeks – the Wade Bales Wine & Whisky Affair 2015 presented in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, and ‘Flavours of Tshwane’, Pretoria’s annual food, wine and music festival presented at the superb Pretoria Country Club.

The Wade Bales Wine Society is your team of personal wine advisors, selecting the best wines South Africa has to offer for its members. It is no surprise that this team of wine experts hosted one of the social highlights of the year, the Wade Bales Wine & Whisky Affair 2015. The setting was outstanding, with beautiful cheese and charcuterie tables stretched across the room. The dynamic between the delicious wines and sophisticated whiskies was accentuated by good conversation and laughter. “The quality of the show and the consumers attending was fantastic. The venue was stylish and well presented. It certainly was a spectacular evening, “ says Ernie Els winemaker, Louis Strydom. “Being part of the Wade Bales Wine Society is an immense privilege for the Ernie Els Wines team.” For more information please visit the website: http://www.wadebaleswinesociety.co.za

‘Flavours of Tshwane’ is Pretoria’s annual food, wine and music festival presented at the Pretoria Country Club, and the latest iteration was a big success. Ernie Els Wines chose this event to showcase its Big Easy range, which epitomizes and reflects Ernie’s manner – big in stature, gentle in character. This was the perfect combination for the festive, yet relaxed Flavours of Tshwane. Some of Pretoria’s finest restaurants, including Ristorante Ritrovo, presented taster-sized portions of their most popular dishes. Meanwhile, the sound of live jazz filled the air for the perfect Sunday vibe. We can’t wait for the Flavours of Tshwane 2016!

4. Ernie Els Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 release gets great review
Everyone on the team is excited about the latest vintage release of the ever-popular Ernie Els Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, the fifth edition of this particular wine and one of real distinction. Wine Cellar – Fine Wine Merchants & Cellarers’ wine specialist, Roland Peens, declared, “The 2013 Ernie Els Cabernet Sauvignon is delicious, charactered and yet somewhat easy-going.”

We planted 5 hectares of the CS 412 Cabernet Sauvignon clone in 2014, the first clone to be planted in the country in the last 19 years, and a further four clones will be planted in the next three years, resulting in 10 different clones on the Ernie Els Wines property. This will continue winemaker Louis Strydom’s vision of producing ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon in South Africa.

Wine Cellar – Fine Wine Merchants & Cellarers’ wine specialist, Roland Peens added: “The nose of sweet cherry, coconut and spice opens to an intriguing palate lined with masses of juicy ripe fruit. A hint of mint, milk chocolate and blackberry all add complexity, while the tannins are softly textured and welcoming. The finish is long, fresh and layered with dollops of sweet fruit and spicy oak.”
