1. Premier Africa launches the Ernie Els ‘Golf, Sights & Safari’ Collection
Earlier this year Ernie partnered with Premier Africa, an exclusive travel company that specialises in the highest quality tours and journeys to the best African destinations. This month the partnership has started to bear fruit, with the launch of three incredible all-inclusive African experiences offering the best golf, sights and safari that South Africa has to offer.

“There’s magic in Africa,” comments Ernie. “You see it in the people, you smell it in the air, and you feel it once you get off the plane. It’s an amazing place. The manner in which Premier Africa is able to deliver an African experience is remarkable. Their team of local expert hosts, excursion managers and destination guides all share a passion for South Africa, evident in their delivery. This is how our wonderful country is meant to be seen. 2. Ernie Els selects Bobby Jones as his official apparel partner
Jones Global Sports, a leading golf and lifestyle apparel company, is pleased to announce that Ernie has chosen to become a global ambassador for the Bobby Jones and Sunice brands, both of which will work closely with Ernie on his competitive attire as well as his off the course style.

“I’ve been familiar with the Bobby Jones brand for a long time, seeing the clothes in high-end pro shops around the world and actually I’ve owned quite a few of their garments over the years,” commented Ernie. “I’ve always been impressed with the look and feel of the clothing. I mean, you literally feel the quality. This is really the kind of partnership that I can appreciate on a number of levels, not least the commitment by the team at Jones Global Sports to support The Els for Autism Foundation, which we greatly appreciate. I must say, wearing Bobby Jones and Sunice apparel is going to be a nice way for me to get the new 2018/19 season started and I know this is a partnership I’m going to enjoy.”

“We are very excited to have Ernie join us as a brand ambassador and become his official apparel provider,” said Andy Bell, President and CEO of Jones Global Sports. “Obviously Ernie has an incredible career on the golf course but his work off the golf course and in the community are equally important to us. Ernie has those important qualities about him that so closely align with the legacy of Bobby Jones. With our continued march towards global expansion of the Bobby Jones brand, there was an easy, natural fit with Ernie….no pun intended. Given his respect for the game and Mr. Jones, we know he will be a great brand ambassador for us throughout the world.”

As part of the agreement, Jones Global Sports will be making significant contributions to the Els for Autism Foundation and supporting their fund-raising efforts around the globe. “The Els for Autism Foundation is so clear in their purpose and does amazing work” said Bell. “We’re excited to play a small role in that work and use our direct to consumer platform to help draw attention to the Foundation and raise the money they need to continue their efforts.”

3. Ernie Els Wines shine at prestigious IWSC in London
Ernie Els Wines is excited to announce that its 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon has been rated as the best in South Africa, according to this year’s highly regarded International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) in London. This annual event boasted its toughest South African field yet, with a 13.5% increase in entries and only seven red wines achieving a judges score of “Gold – Outstanding”. This rating is awarded to wines which are scored as 93+ Points on the 100 Point scale and are described as “Quality of the highest order” by the IWSC.

The Ernie Els Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 was the only pure Cabernet Sauvignon from South Africa to receive this coveted award and is a nod to the years of precision and focus exercised by Louis Strydom and his team at the winery. This award adds to an already well-stocked trophy cabinet at Ernie Els Wines.

“The wheel turns slowly when it comes to winemaking and it takes years before the changes we have been making in the vineyards and cellar can be appreciated by our clients and judges around the world”, said Strydom, “The 2016 vintage has seen the inclusion of some of our newer clonal material into the final wine and we are ecstatic with this result.”

Also scoring well with the judges was the Ernie Els Signature 2014, which was one of six South African Cabernet dominated blends to score between 90-92.9 points and receive a Gold Medal. The Signature is the flagship wine from the Ernie Els stable and the 2014 is the latest release of this highly acclaimed wine, with previous vintages having scored 94 Points at Wine Spectator and multiple 5 Stars from John Platter to name a few.

“Over the past 18 years we have always remained true to crafting wines that are a reflection of our sites, slopes and soils which are best suited to fine Cabernet and it is rewarding to be recognised at such a prestigious international competition,” added Strydom.
