The list of names that have graced the fairways in the 17-year history of the Els for Autism Wine Spectator Pro Am reads like a who’s who of championship golf. This year’s event, held once again at the splendid Old Palm Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, was no exception. Ernie was joined by 17 tour pros, including eight major champions, who captained an enthusiastic group of amateurs intent on fully embracing this day of fun and fundraising.
This year’s line-up was as follows: Ernie Els, Bernhard Langer, Brett Quigley, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Darren Clarke, Justin Leonard, Ken Duke, Michelle McGann, Nick Price, Retief Goosen, Marco Dawson, Camilo Villegas, Jim Thorpe, Jeff Sluman, Gary Player, KJ Choi, Rory Sabbatini and Matthieu Pavon.
By the end of proceedings, an impressive $830,000 had been fundraised, with every cent and dollar going to The Els for Autism Foundation and its mission to help children with autism and their families.
“This is life-changing and very much our life’s work,” commented Ernie. “As always, Liezl and I are so grateful to all the tour pros, participants and sponsors, particularly our headline sponsor Wine Spectator, who made this such a special day. Once again, we are humbled by the spirit of kindness and generosity that contributed to another incredible fundraising total.”
