Bridgesong, a new private golf and residential community taking shape in Blanchard, Oklahoma, is being created with a simple philosophy: let the land lead. Set across approximately 1,000 acres of rolling Oklahoma terrain, waterways, mature trees and open prairie southwest of Oklahoma City, Bridgesong is envisioned as a place where world-class golf, thoughtful residential development, hospitality and everyday life come together with a strong sense of community.
At its heart will be an Ernie Els Signature golf course designed to respond naturally to the character of the property. Rather than imposing a golf course on the land, the routing follows its movement, elevation, water and existing landscape to create an experience intended to feel as though it belongs there.
The course, led in design by Ernie Els Design’s senior design associate Greg Letsche, will offer strategic interest for accomplished players while remaining engaging and enjoyable across a range of abilities. Variety in elevation, direction, wind exposure and shot options will allow golfers to experience the property differently from one round to the next. Complementing the course will be an expansive practice and short-game complex encompassing approximately 1 million square feet across 23 acres, creating a significant golf experience before players ever reach the first tee.
“I was here last October,” explains Ernie, “and as soon as I saw the land I knew this was going to be very special. The course is defined by its strong sense of place, strategic variety, and playability. The design embraces the natural character and beauty of its surroundings, creating a course that feels both distinctive and timeless. There will be a lot of bridges, hence the name of the golf course, there’s obviously a lot of water, a river is going to flow through the property. It’s going to be a natural beauty and a really competitive championship golf course, but also a course where an ‘everyday guy’ can play.”
Ernie goes on to say, “Strategic design is at the heart of Bridgesong, with multiple shot options and risk-and-reward opportunities that challenge golfers to think their way around the course. Variety in hole length, direction, elevation and wind exposure ensures that no two holes – or rounds – feel the same. Memorable holes and excellent routing create a natural rhythm, while the course’s walkability enhances the overall experience. The short-game and practice facilities provide an outstanding complement to the course itself. Quality construction by Landscapes Unlimited and attention to detail will allow Bridgesong to mature into a course of lasting character, offering golfers an engaging, strategic and highly memorable experience every time they play.”
Golf may be the heart of Bridgesong, but it is not the entirety of the vision. The broader community is being planned around places to live, gather, dine, walk, explore and spend time together, creating a setting where the experience extends well beyond the golf course.
The development will include:
Ernie Els Signature Golf Course.
Approximately 23 acres of practice and short-game facilities.
A collection of distinct residential neighborhoods.
Club and gathering spaces.
Hospitality, dining and future village amenities.
Trails, water and outdoor spaces shaped around the existing landscape.
Places designed for members, residents, families and guests to connect.
The project is part of the continued growth taking place in and around the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. Bridgesong is designed to offer a place where golf, the outdoors and community come together in a setting that feels distinctly Oklahoma.
“Bridgesong began with the land. Before we talked about golf, homes or amenities, we spent time understanding what was already here and what this property could become,” explains Renee Mardis, Steward of Vision. “We have been very intentional about not trying to build everything at once or force something onto the land that does not belong. Our goal is to create something lasting, a place with great golf, certainly, but also a place where families and friends connect, where people spend time outside, and where there is a genuine sense of belonging. We are not building Bridgesong for a moment. We are building it with the hope that it matters generations from now.”
