Overview

Lido Lakes is our firm’s first venture into Indonesia, situated in West Java in a spectacular setting between the valley of Mount Salak, Mount Gede, and Mount Pangrango at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level. “For a golf course designer, these are the kind of settings you love to work with”, commented Ernie as the course neared completion in 2024. “There are some truly breathtaking holes. This is now a go-to destination for golfers in south east Asia.”

The existing course had been there for a while. “With the front nine, we stayed pretty much with the original routing,” explains the firm’s senior design associate Greg Letsche. “But the back nine is all new. The holes work in multiple directions, with water bodies and natural features. It’s more dramatic now, there’s more variety and with the existing vegetation, tropical plants and indigenous flowers, it looks like it belongs, which is one of our core philosophies at Ernie Els Design.”

The spectacular views at Lido Lakes are one of its standout features. As golfers play the golf course, two volcanos catch the eye in either direction…not the typical vista for a round of golf!
