Overview

From the earliest visits to this beautiful location, Ernie and the team knew that Albany was going to be something special. This is an exceptional ocean-front layout, both from an aesthetic and strategic standpoint. The dunes look natural and some of the out-of-play areas feature native grasses and plant materials, so the course looks like it belongs in its environment.

Albany is a links-style championship golf course featuring five par-5s, five par-3s and eight par-4s. Ernie and the firm’s senior design associate knew that the shot values of a links-style layout would be ideal given its proximity to the ocean, where the variable wind speed and direction makes the course play different from one day to the next. Truly a beautiful and enduring test of golf.

Did you know…

Albany has been the home of the PGA TOUR’s Hero World Challenge hosted by Tiger Woods since 2015. It is one of six golf courses in the Ernie Els Design portfolio to have hosted a professional tour event.
